While staying at the Cornerstone's Bed and Breakfast in Qualicum Beach, BC, the weather cooperated perfectly for Red's week-long stay. On the fourth day sun was shining so perfectly, Red wanted to take advantage and be out side to take in the sites starting with Cathedral Grove. It was amazed at the Douglas Fir trees that seemed to reach so high they touched the sky. Red questioned, coming across a tree of great stature, what if this was its northern roots? Early springtime in Qualicum Beach, Red learned, was perfect for exploring.

One of the many memorable moments for our Red Chair when it was visiting the Chesterfield Inn Bed and Breakfast in Kelowna, BC, back in February, was when the innkeepers took Red to the blue bear. This public art piece is fascinating! The Blue Bear typifies Ko-low-na, which means grizzly bear in the Salish Language. The closer you get the clearer these symbols become, it truly is a beautiful signature piece of this city. Be sure to add it to your must see list when heading to Kelowna, it is definitely worth the stop!
Since Red could not choose which room it wanted for the duration of its stay at the Myra Canyon Ranch Bed and Breakfast Inn (it was way to hard to pick just one!) the innkeepers let Red try each of them out. Rooms have access to decks with stunning views of the surrounding Valley, Okanagan lake and Kelowna, that offer unforgettable sunsets and serene sunrises, each room offers a unique view yet equally as special, we can see why it was so hard. Even after staying in all of the different rooms, when Red was asked which one was its favorite the reply was,"All of them".
Revelstoke was once famous as a ski-jumping center and boasts the first ski-jump in North America, established in 1915. Many Scandinavian families settles in Revelstoke and brought their winter sports with them. Local man Nels Nelsen was the world champion ski-jumper for several consecutive years in the 1920s. The ski-jump was uin use until the early 1970s and the international competitions attracted athletes and spectators from around the world. Red found that the winter sports in Revelstoke are the cream of the crop, boasting North America's greatest vertical at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, world class Snowmobiles trails blanketed with an average snowfall of 40-60 feet per year, 25+km of groomed Nordic trails including 5+km lit for night skiing, easy access to the best Backcountry Touring experience on earth, and more Helicopter and Cat Ski/Snowboard operations than you can count. Needless to say, Red LOVED staying at the Courthouse Inn Revelstoke nearby to all of these awesome activities!
Port Moody has Pacific Ocean access and with Mainstay Oasis B&B sitting right on the Moody Inlet, Red could view every kind of vessel imaginable coming and going on the waterways during the week long stay. We all know how Red loves the view of boats on the water so of course Mainstay's dock bench was Red's favorite spot to sit, relax and soak up everything between sunrise and sunset. It was truly magical.
The Angelsong Bed & Breakfast and Retreat Center in Stanwood, Washington is our Red Chair's last stop before it goes international! It was a spectacular stay, full of much needed R&R so the Red Chair could head off on its first international adventure completely ready and refreshed. One day Red thought it might try to see just how far away the Canadian border was so it hitched a ride up the flag pole for a great view! Not only could it see Canada it also had a spectacular view of the entire Stanwood area and beyond including Puget Sound. It sure was tough to move on but Red will be sure to head back to the Angelsong Bed & Breakfast and Retreat Center again someday.
Twi-hard fans be jealous, the Red Chair got the chance to visit Forks, Washington this past October for a wonderful week and stayed with the amazing innkeepers of the Miller Tree Inn. After binge reading the Twilight series to be ready for the visit, Red was excited to see the props, places and activities mention in the books first hand. Here we see Red at the Visitor's Center meeting Bella's trucks. The one on the left is as described in the books. The red truck on the right is the same vintage as the one used in the Twilight movies.
The Domaine Madeleine Bed and Breakfast took our Red Chair to the nearby Olympic National Park and the Elwah River Valley. The Elwah River Valley is the site of the largest dam removal project in US history. This project was actually finished last year, in 2014, and this is the first year of the expected full recovery and return of the salmon to the Elwah River. The return of the fish has been far more rapid than anyone anticipated, which has been great news for conservationists looking to restore natural habitats!
Our Red Chair loved kayaking with the Innkeepers of the Inn at Mallard Cove! In the background of this picture you can see a majestic Great Blue Heron walking along the shore behind Red. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge allows you to enjoy a beautiful experience of enjoying nature at its finest whether it be through kayaking, hiking, fishing, hunting, or photography. Red and the innkeepers kayaked for hours exploring each inlet and the shorelines before the sun went down and it was the highlight of Red's stay.
While the Red Chair was staying at the Blue Spruce Bed and Breakfast in Sisters, Oregon, the innkeepers were sharing with Red some of their favorite things to do in the area. One of which was a trip to the Dee Wright Observatory which was located only 15 miles from Blue Spruce! This observatory was built of Lava rock and offers stunning panoramic views of the Cascade Mountain Peaks. Located within the Willamette National Forrest this attraction does not disappoint and is worth the visit!
