Rabbit Hill Inn

Lower Waterford, VT
March 2013

The Red Chair enjoyed an escape to the White Mountains for a little spring skiing, settling into the world-renowned Rabbit Hill Inn for the perfect winter getaway.  Days out sledding, exploring country roads and covered bridges, kicking back on the porch overlooking the mountains.  Thanks to innkeepers Brian and Leslie Mulcahy for giving the Red Chair such a great visit.

Bear Mountain Lodge

Bethlehem NH, March 2013

The chair is still on the move, this month back up in ski country to have some fun in the snow.  Thanks to photographer Tim Little, who took a bunch more great night shots of the red chair in the snowy winter scenery, and the hosts at Bear Mountain Lodge Michael and Carol Kerivan!  Go to the Red Chair Journey page for more photos of this great stop.

Woods Hole

on Cape Cod
December 30, 2012
Back at the Woods Hole Inn for a little rest, the Red Chair headed out around New Years Eve with famed night photographer Tim Little of Cape Night Photography.  Exploring the snow covered golf course, Eel Pond, Nobska Light and other notable photo spots in the dead of winter proved ghostly and interesting.  More images on Facebook. Thanks Tim!

Historic Jacob Hill Inn

near Providence, RI
December 12, 2012
The Historic Jacob Hill Inn - Providence RI is located on a peaceful county estate close enough to Providence, Rhode Island to see the skyline over the tree tops but far enough to be in an upscale neighborhood, away from the city noise. The Red Chair enjoyed the great combination of country living so close to urbanity that makes this an location ideal for business and personal travel.  Innkeeper Eleanora Rezek understands luxury travel, and the Red Chair was happy to luxuriate in her care in one of the best spots in Providence.

Emerson by the Sea

Rockport MA
December 2012
What better than the cry of gulls above your head, granite shoreline beneath your feet and a view past lobster boats to the slate grey winter sea on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean?  Rockport -- part artists colony,  part summer retreat and all fisherman's delight -- is a great place to spend a few days at the holidays and the Red Chair luxuriated in the Emerson by the Sea's elegance, good service and fine dining.

Concord, Mass is considered the birthplace of the American Revolution, where was fired, "the shot heard round the world."

Hawthorne Inn

Concord, MA
December 2012

Christmas exploring the history of Concord Massachusetts, birthplace of the American Revolution and home to many famous writers.  The Hawthorne Inn, with the help of innkeepers Gregory Burch and Marilyn Mudry, showed the Red Chair the highlights of this incredibly historic town.   Three rivers wend through Concord's Colonial landscape where moss-covered stonewalls embrace the homes of Hawthorne, Alcott, Emerson and Thoreau, and the Red Chair witnessed the North Bridge, where was fired, "the shot heard 'round the world".

Mary Prentiss Inn

Cambridge, MA
December 7, 2012

The Red Chair goes to Harvard!  What a wonderful urban visit, and to stay in a B&B in the heart of this vibrant city?  Fantastic.

What a treat for our Red Chair.  Thanks to innkeeper Lisa Gartland of the Mary Prentiss Inn for showing the Red Chair a good time in Cambridge, a great resting spot from which to tour all of Boston.

Stockbridge Inn

Stockbridge, MA
December 4, 2012
Norman Rockwell described Stockbridge as the “best of America, best of New England.”  Situated on 12 acres, the Stockbridge Inn was once an sprawling estate dating back to the turn of the last century, and the Red Chair reveled in it's beautiful gardens, wraparound porch, and lovely holiday decor.  Innkeepers Alice and Len Schiller showed the Chair all the highlights of the area, which you can find in detail on the Massachusetts page.

Gateways Inn

Lenox, MA
December 2, 2012
Life the the beautiful Berkshires, with mountains to hike, plenty of culture (like Tanglewood, Jacobs Pillow and much more) was a restful and delightful way for the Red Chair to commence the month of December.  Innkeepers Michelle and Eiran Gazat of the Gateways Inn in Lenox helped make this special visit happen, and with a light dusting of snow in the hills, they showed our Red Chair an excellent time!

Applegate Inn

Lee, MA
November 29, 2012
The Red Chair spent the last days of the month preparing for the holidays with the folks at the lovely Applegate Inn, situated on 6 park-like acres only a half mile walk from historic downtown Lee, Massachusetts.  What a way to deck the halls, hanging with friends in this gorgeous house nestled in the jewel-like Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts.  Home to Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Kripalu and so many more cultural jewels and icons.  The Red Chair saw it all, courtesy of innkeepers Gloria and Len Friedman.

Deerfield Inn

Deerfield, MA
November 22, 2012
Currently under construction recovering from the damage of flooding during Hurricane Irene, the Deerfield Inn jumped to host the Red Chair this November to show our red friend some of its furniture cousins, and share the progress of their renovation with the world.  Proving that a chair can enjoy as Inn even in the midst of sawdust, power tools and busy workers... the Red Chair was able to get out and see the sights around the Inn, enjoy a lovely breakfast with other amenable guests and snuggle up with some of the Inn's adorable dogs.

Three Mountain Inn

Jamaica, Vermont
November 11-14, 2013
A visit to Jamaica, in Vermont!  What a wonderful place to wait for first snowfall in the cooler days of the fall!  Mountains everywhere, crisp clear air, wonderful walks.  The Red Chair enjoyed a few days of R&R in this unique mountain setting -- hunting, geo-caching, looking at the stars and exploring every rock, nook and cranny!  Check out the photos to learn more!
