Ivy Terrace, Manhattan, NY
July 18-22nd, 2013
While spending a fabulous few days at the Ivy Terrace located right in Manhattan, the Red Chair was able to cross off a few items on its bucket list. The Red Chair has always wanted to see a Broadway play and Innkeeper Vinessa Milando was not about to let Red miss out on seeing one of the largest and most famous broadway shows, The Lion King. The Red Chair absolutely loved its Broadway experience and highly recommends it!
Red sat by the Lincoln Center Fountain, toured the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art, visited the beautiful Metropolitan Opera, shopped till Red dropped at Bloomingdales, ate delicious food from the Magnolia Bakery, danced with a street performer, took a walk around Central Park, and went to Coney Island for an original Nathan's Famous Hot Dog. Red had an absolutely wonderful time and has plenty more ideas for round two in the Big Apple!

Inn at Lake Joseph, Forestburgh, NY
July 7-9th, 2013
The Red Chair had some fun adventures while visiting at the Inn at Lake Joseph. Red went to the lake soon after arriving, spent some time on the float with a new friend, and even tried rowing one of the rowboats. Red also checked out the pool and the hiking trail. It spent some enjoyable hours interacting with the other guests, and the cat, Leon, really liked resting on Red’s lap; Red also went over to the Monticello racetrack/casino and tried its luck at some of the gaming machines. The Red Chair had such a wonderful time visiting the Innkeepers of the Inn at Lake Joseph and was able to get a big break as an actor! ECCE Bed and Breakfast, Barryville, NY
July 2-6th, 2013
Red had a terrific time celebrating the Red, White and Blue at ECCE B&B in the beautiful Catskill mountains. He actually took part in The Liberty, NY July 4th parade and held an honored position on the fire engine leading the procession.
Red visited several historic venues including Fort Delaware in Narrowsburg, The Livingston Manor Covered Bridge (built in 1860), Grahamsville, Home of The Little World’s Fair, The Time & Valleys Museum and The Legendary Two Headed Trout Pool in Roscoe “Trout town USA.” He finished the day with a quick libation at The Prohibition Distillery and The Roscoe Beer Co. Red staggered back to ECCE for a good night’s rest. For his last day, Red went to The Bethelwoods Museum at the site of the original 1969 Woodstock Concert. He even stood atop the monument at Yasgur’s farm wishing at that moment he was a “rocker!” Red had so much fun and cannot wait to go back! |
Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast, Salisbury Mills, NY
June 29 - July 1st, 2013
The Red Chair was at it again! Adventuring as much as possible within the short amount of time it has at each destination. Stop 8 on the cross country journey brought the Red Chair to visit the Innkeepers of the Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast in Salisbury Mills, NY. The Red Chair had a marvelous time being the ultimate tourist while visiting and got to wander around West Point, view the sculptures of the Storm King Art Center, take in the scenic view of the Moodna Trestle, and the Red Chair's favorite part, a tasting at the oldest winery in America -- the Brotherhood Winery! The Red Chair is sure to be back soon since there is so much more that it was unable to fit in during it's stay!
Inn the Woods, Hyde Park, NY
June 26-28th, 2013
As you can see the Red Chair was quite busy and LOVING it! Red was able to see and do so many exciting things that it all couldn't possibly be done in one trip. Sitting in the National Wildlife Certified Habitat on the grounds of Inn the Woods, Red stopped by the frog pond for a bit and then headed on over to view the bees, of course from a safe distance.
When visiting the local area the Red Chair got to visit the many different Hudson River-lining estates to explore their gardens, and also got to cool off at the Culinary Institute of America. The Red Chair was going to apply but decided against it since it can't actually cook. It is probably best to leave that up to people who can!

Millbrook Village Inn, Millbrook, NY
June 23-25th, 2013
The Red Chair has been such a busy bee so far on the cross country trip, but no worries Red has also had plenty of time to relax! One of the Red Chair's favorite relaxing moments so far was when it was able to visit the Millbrook Winery. With an "I love NY" wine glass in hand and a vineyard favorite white wine, Red enjoyed the afternoon in the sun looking over the vineyard.
After some much needed relaxation at the Millbrook Village Inn, the Red Chair was feeling a bit antsy. It really wanted to visit the local zoo and volunteer it's time in some way. Although Red got a bit distracted by one of its favorite animals, the lemur, the Red Chair had an amazing day volunteering at the Trevor Zoo! Next stop was a bit of shopping for some new Rain Boots and to check out the local Antique store. Such a wonderful few days!

Hilltop House Bed & Breakfast, Amenia, NY
June 20-22nd, 2013
The Red Chair spent some exciting yet very relaxing time with the Innkeepers of the Hilltop House Bed & Breakfast! With the afternoon full of trying new things, the evening provided Red time to sit back and watch the sun set on the longest day of the year. What a view the Hilltop House was able to share with Red!
Horses, Pure Maple Syrup, Race cars, and a spectacular breakfast, the Red Chair couldn't have asked for anything better than that!
