Hilltop House Bed & Breakfast

"Hilltop House, while not the proverbial “Inn of the Sixth Happiness,” welcomed Red to her FIFTH stopping-off place. We were happily challenged to frame her suitably, inside and outside of our small country Bed & Breakfast, and to sit with her at the moment the seasons shifted from spring in the northern hemisphere to summer. She imbued on us, an aura—that of finding ourselves as chosen; to rub elbows with fame. And being as subjective as fame is, to find a bit of it in ourselves and the place we call home." -- Hilltop House Bed & Breakfast

The Red Chair had a fantastic time visiting the Innkeepers of the Hilltop House Bed & Breakfast and has left with memories it will never forget.  With each Innkeeper the Red Chair meets, it feels as if it has gained another amazing member into the Red Chair Travels family. The love that all Innkeepers and the Red Chair share for the Bed and Breakfast industry create a unique bond which inspires all who come across this adventure.

With new experiences under Red's belt such as horsing around with a pasture of horses, taking a ride in a racing car, and watching the sun set on the longest day of the year, the Red Chair feels ready for anything on the cross country adventure! After only five stops we (the Red Chair and the Red Chair Team) are very excited to see what else is to come!

Rock Hall Luxe Lodging

The Red Chair aims to be the center of attention every where it goes but once Red realized it would have to play music, it decided to leave that up to the professionals.  That evening Red was able to enjoy the performances at the Infinity Hall, a little Rock and Roll never hurt any one.

Not only was Infinity Hall close by to the Rock Hall Luxe but also close by was the Battell Stoeckel Estate, home of the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and Yale Summer School of Music!
The Red Chair gained musical confidence and was even assisting Innkeeper Michael on the piano at the end of the stay!  We thank you Rock Hall Luxe for inspiring the Red Chair to expand it's knowledge of music and culture!  Maybe in the future Red will come out with a hit single...

Silas W. Robbins House

The Silas W. Robbins House provided the Red Chair with an unbelievable historical experience that Red will never forget!

Mark Twain, one of Hartford’s most prominent past-residents, and one of the Red Chair's favorite authors, isn’t buried in Cedar Hill but his Gothic Victorian home on what was called Nook Farm is a living tribute to the man who said, “Travel is Fatal to Prejudice.” to which the Red Chair surely agrees.

It was an absolute pleasure for the Red Chair to visit Mark Twain's home where he wrote famous novels such as Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer!

Not only on this visit did the Red Chair get the historical experience of one great man but Red was also able to visit the grave of Silas W Robbins himself among other celebrity graves such as Katherine Hepburn, Samuel Colt, and J.P. Morgan.  Red says "Wethersfield, CT is just one of those places that has the historical charm and beauty of another time!"

First Stop Samuel Durfee House!

The Red Chair spent a few days in the beautiful waterfront city of Newport, Rhode Island at the Samuel Durfee House.  With all the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the cross country journey the Red Chair was ready for a relaxing vacation which it got from the heavenly staff of the Samuel Durfee House.  The Red Chair was also given a personal area tour by Innkeepers Michael and Heather De Pinho which covered all over Newport from beaches to historical landmarks.

Above you see the Red Chair taking in the gorgeous day at Fort Adams, which is where all of the local Jazz and Folk festivals take place!

A great time and a beautiful view is what you will get out of Newport, RI.  Red highly recommends a visit!

Bon Voyage to the Red Chair!

Cake, champagne, and great friends, what could be a better way to say Bon Voyage to the Red Chair as it begins its year long trek across the country to Santa Barbra CA.

Many friends showed up yesterday morning to say their farewells to the Red Chair and wish it luck on Red's upcoming adventure.

As owner Beth Colt reflected on the simple beginnings of the now infamous Red Chair, we toasted to the future and watched Beth assist the chair down the steps of the Woods Hole Inn to the car.  The Red Chair rode off into the afternoon headed to it's first of many destinations the Samuel Durfee House of Newport, RI.
