The Domaine Madeleine Bed and Breakfast took our Red Chair to the nearby Olympic National Park and the Elwah River Valley. The Elwah River Valley is the site of the largest dam removal project in US history. This project was actually finished last year, in 2014, and this is the first year of the expected full recovery and return of the salmon to the Elwah River. The return of the fish has been far more rapid than anyone anticipated, which has been great news for conservationists looking to restore natural habitats!

Our Red Chair loved kayaking with the Innkeepers of the Inn at Mallard Cove! In the background of this picture you can see a majestic Great Blue Heron walking along the shore behind Red. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge allows you to enjoy a beautiful experience of enjoying nature at its finest whether it be through kayaking, hiking, fishing, hunting, or photography. Red and the innkeepers kayaked for hours exploring each inlet and the shorelines before the sun went down and it was the highlight of Red's stay.
