Ever been to a drive-in? Well now the Red Chair has.! While staying at the Hummingbird Inn, the innkeepers took Red to Hull’s Drive-in in Lexington, the city at the other end of Goshen Pass. Hull’s by the way, is one of the only community owned drive-ins in America. It was so much fun, Red wonders why there arn't more of these around?!
The Red Chair wanted to see the Virginia State Arboretum at Blandy Farm where they encountered what Red thought was giant shredded wheat! With quiet stealth and determination to see if it was true, the Red Chair hid in the cornfields and then crossed over the fields of hay bales. As Red got up closer it breathed a sigh of relief that they would not roll over onto him! Although not the delectable breakfast cereal the Red Chair found these bales of hay to be quite entertaining.
The Red Chair had the chance to visit the Fort Edwards Visitor Center where Red learned about all that happened in the region during the Revolutionary War. Col George Washington, commander of the Virginia Regiment, established Fort Edwards among others to provide a protective arc for the region. George Washington knew the area quite well after having surveyed much of the area.
The Red Chair Travels sure does love a great wedding. Red was actually invited to help host and attend the beautiful ceremony that was held on the last day of Reds visit to the Pheasant Field Bed and Breakfast. Lucky for every one Red was there because it saved the day for the beautiful bride! The Red Chair stepped in to help assist the beautiful bride to and from the horse carriage. Red was so honored to be a part of such a wonderful and memorable day!
A Trip to the Laurel Lodge
Before moving onto its next stop, the Red Chair made sure to stop by the scenic and historic wonders of Harpers Ferry, WV, where it took a moment to enjoy the view from the porch at the Laurel Lodge. Red could spend all day out there on that porch admiring the beauty that just completely surrounds you!
The Red is still getting used to the fame that comes with being the Red Chair. Every where it goes it seems to be spotted, which of course Red loves, and it is not so easy to blend in when you are red and a chair.
While staying at the Berry Patch Bed and Breakfast the Red Chair hit the beach for one of the last few beach days of the summer. While catching some rays Red was approached by a group of fans for a picture. Red is not one to turn down a photo opportunity with new friends of course! What a great day at the beach!
The Red Chair sure does enjoy a beautiful day fly-fishing on the stream. But this was not just any old fishing day! While the Red Chair was visiting the Carlisle House Bed and Breakfast in Carlisle, PA, Red got the opportunity to check out the world-famous trout stream, the Letort Spring Run. That of course is not all, thanks to the innkeepers of the Carlisle House, Red was treated to one on one lessons from author and doyen of Pennsylvania fly-fishing, Ed Shenk! It was a fantastic day in Carlisle, PA for the Red Chair
We all know how much the Red Chair LOVES to travel the world to see and experience new places but one of Reds favorite reasons for traveling is to create memories with new family and friends. From other furniture to our innkeepers families, the Red Chair loves them all and really enjoys spending quality time getting to know each new friend before it has to move on to the next stop. Above you can see the Red Chair enjoying the company of Charlie Sheerer, 7, Sophie Sheerer 4 months, Samantha Fegley, 5 and Cooper Fegley, 3; the four grandchildren of Innkeepers Pam and Dallas. We must say though, the Red Chair is terrible at hide and seek..
The Red Chair Travels is taking the political world by storm.. well not really but Red can dream can't it? The Red Chair was able to visit the Pennsylvania Capitol Building which houses both the House of Representatives and also the Senate. What an amazing opportunity to see such a beautiful and historical building that is so important to the past, present and future of our very nation. Want to visit too? Check out the PA Capitol Building website for tour information.
Thank you to everyone who made the Red Chair visiting the Capitol Building possible, it is such a memorable moment for the Chair. Now it is onto Red Chair for President! We will just have to work on a catchy slogan...
The Red Chair Travels found an oasis in the extensive gardens surrounding the Swiss Woods Bed and Breakfast Inn. The gardens were such a fantastic place to wander and connect with nature the Red Chair had to just have a seat and write in the traveling journal. With tucked away benches for romantic privacy and hammocks strung between trees that are perfect for an afternoon nap, the Red Chair spent quite a bit of time here. All of the various butterflies and birds add an extra special touch to the beautiful grounds of the Swiss Woods Bed and Breakfast Inn. Such a fantastic place to relax all year round!
